Malita R. Marx, 81 of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday morning April 10, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born January 1, 1935 in Evansville, the daughter of August H. and Julia (Vititow) Wissner. She married Gene Marx on June 30, 1956 and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2015.
Malita retired from G.E. in 1990 after 15 years. She loved bingo and gardening; but most of all, she loved her family. She was a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Patti Marx and fiance, Omar Sherron of Evanville, Terri Alsop, Ruthie Marvel and Sherri Allen all of Mt. Vernon; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Zimmerman of Evansville and Patricia Fuchs of FL. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Marjorie Patrick.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of your choice.
