Lorene Edmondson

     Opal Lorene (Jones) Edmondson, 105, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Eldorado Rehab and Health. She was born on March 2, 1918, in Sims, Illinois, the daughter of Ed and Viola (Henderson) Jones. Lorene married Wilford Edomondson and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1983. She was a member of the Emmanuel Methodist Church in Carmi for over 75 years. Lorene enjoyed the Quilters and Crafters events that were held at the church. Lorene was an avid quilter. She quilted over 700 quilts and quilted a lot of items for people in the community. Lorene loved working in her yard and garden, shopping and going for car rides. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

     Lorene is survived by her daughter, Willa and her husband Thomas L. "John" Hubele of Carmi, IL; and her granddaughter Melinda Hubele and her husband Eric Thurston of Springfield, IL.  In addition to her husband, Wilford Edmondson, Lorene is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Taylor.

     Funeral services for Lorene Edmondson will be private with burial at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Contributions can be made in Lorene's memory to Emmanuel Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
