Lola Maxine Mercer, 72, of Carmi passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 8:35 a,m. at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born December 31, 1939 in Enfield, IL the daughter of Hubert and Bessie (Dennis) Pollard. Maxine had worked as a toll taker at the New Harmony Bridge for over 20 years.

Maxine is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle Vickers of Carmi and Tara and Scott Walden of Thompsonville, IL; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie and Ray Root of Albion, IL, Pauline Martin of Garfield Heights, OH and Jennie Martin of Columbia, MO; six grandchildren, Mallory and Mitchell Vickers, Austin and Tyson Kessler and Samantha and Jamie Walden.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Vineyard and Helen Yates and a brother, Ernie Pollard.

Funeral Services for Lola Maxine Mercer, 72, of Carmi will be Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at RIG Ministries with the Rev. Bob Pollard officiating. Burial will be in the Enfield Cemetery. Friends may call at RIG Ministries on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Brownsville School and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
