Lois E. Schmidt of Carrollton, IL passed away Friday September 22, 2017 peacefully at her home. She was born July 23, 1930 in Alton, IL the daughter of Louis E. and E. Fern (Betz) Youell. She married Walter P. Schmidt on July 2, 1949 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2000 after 50 years of marriage.
Lois retired from sales for several companies including insurance and Tupperware. She was an avid counted cross stitcher, reader of books and loved baking.
She is survived by daughter, Melisa Smith, sons, Steven (Mary), Karl (Karen), and Erik (Jamie). A special daughter, Barbara Engelke, her husband Thies, son Felipe, granddaughter Amy of Germany. Grandchildren, Nicole (David Wolfley), Nathan, Graham and Barrett Schmidt, Dustin (Mackenzie) and Ashley Schmidt, Mandie (Mike Whitlow) and Madisyn Smith, Brandon and Cailee Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Reghan and Gabrielle Schmidt, Maisy, Millie, Mollie Wolfley, step-grandchildren, Julie, Adam, Alex and John Stroh. A brother, Jon T. Baker (Liz Killion) and many nieces and nephews also survive
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter; parents, step-parents, sister, Artie Ronmey, son-in-law Marty Smith and a special nephew, David Stendeback.
