Lois Funkhouser, 91, of Enfield, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 9:40 a.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born on September 6, 1923 in Enfield, IL, the daughter of James Ellis and Lula May (Miller) Bolerjack. Lois married Charles Oscar Funkhouser in 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 28, 2012.
Lois was the secretary at Booth School in Enfield for 50 years and worked with her husband, Oscar, at their business,The Food Shoppe in Enfield for many years. She was a lifelong member of Enfield United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, served as Lay Leader and was the church organist and pianist for many years.
Lois is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Carl and Kathy Funkhouser of Carmi; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Margaret Bolerjack and J. Raymond and Helen Bolerjack.
Graveside funeral services and burial for Lois Funkhouser, 91, of Enfield, will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Enfield Cemetery with Rev. Mike Buckman and Mike Fields officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Lois's name to Enfield United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
