Lily Bernice Turner Phelps, 80, died peacefully July 7, 2014 at home with her family. She was born Feb 5, 1934 to William Martin Turner and Lennie Lucille Simmons Turner in Maunie, Illinois. Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harry Phelps, her father and mother, brother, James Edward Turner and sister, Genevieve Turner Phelps, great grandson Kenneth L Ruester and nephew, Kevin D Phelps.
She leaves behind 3 sons, Keith L Phelps (Denise) of Ohio, Martin W Phelps (Becky) of Belleville, IL, and Brian K Phelps (Kim) of Maunie, IL and daughter Dana G Phelps Baxley, grandchildren, Colinda R Baxley Alstat(Chandra), Jessica L Baxley, Marissa, IL, Brittany N Phelps, Evansville, IN, Makayla D and Nathaniel M Phelps of Belleville, IL, Bree Ann, Chalon D, Lilly R and Libby D Phelps of Maunie, IL and great grandchildren, Michael R. Asher, Rhaelie and Mya Alstat, Hayden Lynlee Ruester of Marissa,IL, Taven J Phelps of Evansville, IN, many nieces & nephews and brothers and sisters-in-laws, all of whom she loved dearly & had many happy memories of.
She returned to school in 1981 and graduated in 1984, fulfilling dream of obtaining her RN degree and spent many years caring for others as was her routine throughout her life. She touched many lives with her kind & generous nature in sickness and in health. She is greatly missed by her family and loved ones and will always live on through the love and caring she taught her family. Having a strong faith and great love for The Lord she happily anticipated meeting Him face to face, leaving behind the pain and trials of this earth.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday July 12, 2014 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Marshall Ferry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until services. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
