Lillie Mae Jackson, age 85 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday morning March 10, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital. She was born July 28, 1927 in Birmingham, AL the daughter of Jasper and Mannie (Watkins) Bishop. She married Roy Lee Jackson on December 18, 1948 in Yuma, AZ.
Lillie had worked at the Mt. Vernon Coat Factory until it closed. She loved to fish and spending time on the beach in Florida. She was a member of Olive Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee; two daughters, Peggy (Roger) Horacek and Patty Ann Adkins all of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Roger Horacek, II., Robert Shane (Becky) Horacek and Rodney (Lauren) Horacek; three great-grandchildren, Elise Marie, Ethan Robert and Kaylee Faye Horacek; one brother, Jasper Bishop, Jr of Chula Vista, CA; one sister, Louise Brown of Sligeman, AZ; and a niece and nephew, Jackie Gregory and Chris Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Juanita “Lynn” Jeffries in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St, Mt. Vernon with Rev. Mike Rynkiewich officiating.
