Lillian Garrett

Lillian Virginia Garrett, age 90 of Mt. Vernon, IN died Monday morning January 19, 2009 at the Mt.Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 8, 1918 at Odin, IL the daughter of Elmer and Grace (Arnold) Partlow. She married George Raymond Garrett on July 24, 1953, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1999.


Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Garrett had been a telephone operator for the Odin Telephone Exchange. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses-Southwestern Congregation.


She is survived by one son, Donald L. Garrett of Henderson, KY; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dennis Ziegler of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Michael Ziegler and his wife, Samantha, Mercedes Weaver and Stephanie Weaver; three step-grandchildren, Kevin, Terry and Kenny Garrett; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Beverly McCoy Weaver and Sharon Kay McCoy and one sister, Lorrine Bartlett.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday January 28, 2009 at the Austin Funeral Home with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday January 27, 2009 at the Austin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jehovah’s Witnesses-Southeastern Congregation.
