Lena Strong

Lena Margaret Strong 89 of New Harmony, passed away Saturday January 17, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born July 3, 1925 in Gallitan County, IL the daughter of Francis Boyer and Violet Boyer Lilleston.

Lena retired as an executive secretary for Standard Oil Company. She was an avid sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved to read and had volunteered at the local libraries and also at the VA Center in Evansville.

She is survived by her brothers, Billy Boyer of Evansville, Floyd Clarence (Bonnie) Lilleston of FL and Ralph (Debbie) Lilleston of Evansville; sisters, Mary (Lloyd) Craig of Mt. Vernon, Delores Swick of New Harmony, Donna (Bill) Emery of Norris City, IL and Muriel (Bill) Gillenwater of New Harmony. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Billy Lilleston and Arnold Boyer; 3 sisters, Helen Humston, Betty Springer and Lydia Lilleston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with entombment at Alexander West in Evansville. Visitation will be from Noon until time of services on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Vanderburgh Co. Humane Society.
