Lee Wilson, 92, of McLeansboro, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 5:45 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro after an extended stay. He was born November 24, 1922 in Crook Township, Hamilton County, IL, the son of Emery C. and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Doerner) Wilson. Lee married Dana Eloise Storey on August 14, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2006. They raised five children together on their grain and dairy farm. Lee loved to read western novels and had read all that was available at the Carmi and Norris City Libraries. He loved to coon hunt and reminisce about happy times in his life. Lee also served his country in the Navy during WW II.
He is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Cathy M. & David Gidcumb of Salem, MO; four sons & daughters-in-law, Lee R. & Joyce Wilson of Carmi, Carl & Bonnie Wilson of Potosi, MO, Robert J. & Sharon Wilson of McLeansboro & Kenneth R. & Cindy Wilson of Makanda, IL; 18 grandchildren, Mark (Tiffany) Wilson, Amy (Ryan) Youngblood, Jessie (Julie) Wilson,Matthew (Nikki) Wilson, Nathaniel (Mallori) Wilson, Rebecca (James) Gough, Seth (Amanda) Wilson, Michael (Dianna) Wilson,Jeremy (Amy) Wilson, David Wilson, Joshua (Michelle) Gidcumb, Erin (Noah) Rienks, Caleb (MaRisha) Gidcumb, Lucas (Kay) Wilson, Andrea (Josh) McCaharty, Kenneth J. "K.J." Wilson, Sadee J. Wilson & Tiffany Taylor; 29 great-grandchildren, Tony, Nik & Ethan Wilson, Jonathan & Abigail Youngblood, Eli, Adam & Lydia Wilson, Sydney, Kaiten, Jayla & Tess Wilson, Karli Jo, Elizabeth Kay & Jossie Wilson, Cooper & Hanley Wilson, Granger Wilson, Jackson & Wyatt Gidcumb, Isaiah, Haddie & Jude Rienks, Hayden & Ella Gidcumb, Elijah McCaharty, Benjamin Wilson & Nevaeh & Bre Taylor; one great-great-grandchild, Leah Wilson; &; a sister, Clara Helm of Iowa. Lee was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Ruby Wilson & Flora Ward; & four brothers, Freeman, Arthur, Chris & Truman Wilson.
Funeral services for Lee Wilson, 92, of McLeansboro, will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Dr. Kenneth Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Albion Cemetery in Broughton. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home.
