Lawrence E. Nelson, 71 of Mt. Vernon, IN, went to be with his
Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon July 12, 2016 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mt.Vernon. He was born, July 24,1944 to Wesley and Ellen (Turner) Nelson. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Nelson.

He married Jackie (Harper, Ricketts) in March 1977. He was a member of Local 374 Boilermakers. During their 40 years of marriage, Larry and Jackie traveled extensively, covering 40 states and Puerto Rico. He loved traveling, fishing and family. Also, operated his own welding service for several years.

Children,Tammi  (Rick) Vaughn of Haubstadt, IN, Tonya Ricketts and Nicole (Billy) Robb of Mt Vernon, IN, Bobby Ricketts of New Harmony, IN, Mike (Teresa) Nelson of Savannah, TN, Allan and Larry Nelson of Mt Vernon, IN. 19 grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Vaughn. Alex, Kalee, Jordan & Allison Ricketts. Anthonie Fisher. PFC Joseph W. and Emma Nelson. Justin, Samantha, Raelene, Jacob and Michael Nelson. Brooke and Sydney Nelson. Seth, Hayden and Lauren Nelson.12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving, a sister Martha Dean (Wilfred) Nobles, and brother Roger and (Deb) Nelson. He was preceeded in death by his parents and by sisters, Marge McBride, Carolyn Cox and Sharon Hanmore. Brothers, John, Gordon, Donald, Joseph Wayne and David Nelson.

Funeral services will be held, 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
