Laura Newcomb

      Laura Dell Newcomb, 78, of Carmi passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion, IL. She was born in East St. Louis on May 31, 1946 the daughter of Ruby and Leslie Daniels. Laura married James Charles Newcomb on October 4, 1974 and he passed away on October 5, 2010. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi. Laura worked as Certified Nursing Assistant for 37 years at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.

    Laura is survived by her siblings, Helen and Robert Tipton of Frankfort, KY, Richard and Carol Daniels of Salem, IL, Bill Daniels of Indianapolis, IN, Janet and Darel Casillas of Collinsville, IL. Carolyn Rider Huffman and Jimmy and Cathy Daniels of Monticello, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Leslie Daniels and siblings, Shirley Hollaway, Geraldine Spearhouse, Anna Daniels, Carol Duffey and Robert Daniels.

    Funeral Services for Laura Dell Newcomb, 78, of Carmi will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will follow in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. till service time at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made in Laura's memory to the Baptist Children's Home and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
