Larry Joe Simmons

Larry Joe Simmons, 72, of Carmi passed away at 12:13 p.m., Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN.  He was born in Grayville, IL on December 5, 1944 the son of Johnnie Rueban and Pauline Francis (Comer) Simmons. Joe worked at Raymond Haley for 30 years before going to work at Campbell Enterprise for 10 years. He worked as a pulling unit operator and was later a tool pusher.

Joe is survived by two sons, Danny and Jackie Simmons of Metropolis, IL and David Simmons of Carmi; sister, Joanie Elanie Inboden, of Vacaville, CA; four grandchildren, Sarah Fischer, Stephanie Smallman, Shane Simmons, and Meckenzy Simmons; and three great-grandchildren, Summer Smallman, Brody Smallman and Hallee Smallman. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Pauline Simmons and two brothers Paul Wayne and Tony Gene Simmons.

Memorial service for Larry Joe Simmons, 72, of Carmi will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Tim Gholson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the American Lung Association and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
