Kirby Joe Russell, 49 of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away Sunday morning October 18, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born April 5, 1966 the son of Edward and Margaret (York) Russell.
Kirby graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1984. He pursued his passion of caring for others as an EMT, Paramedic and Director of the Posey County Emergency Medical System. He continued his education and became a nurse, helping others at Deaconess Hospital. He achieved his dream of being on the Air Evac team and continued his service as its director until his death.
Kirby is survived by his parents, Ed and Margaret; his sister, Vicky Lynn Isabel of Mt. Vernon; nephews, Sean Isabel and Kris Russell, great nephew, Robert Isabel. He also leaves behind his partner, David Rose and his goddaughter, Devon Allyn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Wayne Russell in 1974.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday October 21, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th Street, Mt. Vernon. Memorials are suggested to Not A Gonna Wheeze (a children's asthma camp) in care of the funeral home.
