Kenneth W. Wentzel, 90
of Posey County, Indiana
died Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

Kenneth was born, June 14, 1917 in Posey Co. Center Twp to the late William and Catherine (Wargel). He was a 1935 graduate of Wadesville High School and a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. Kenneth had worked as an Auto Mechanic, a Farmer and an Insurance Agent for Mutual Insurance Association of Southern Indiana, retiring in 1998. He was a United States Army WWII veteran serving with the 163rd Field Artillery, 38th Division Headquarters Battery. Kenneth was a life member of American Legion Owen Dunn Post #5 and the VFW Post #1114 in Evansville.

He is survived by:
One sister, Alvena Knowles of Lakeland, FL

and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife, Selma (Slygh) Wentzel in 2003, two sisters, Marie Zenthoefer, Agnes (Abney) Manola and two brothers, Wilfred and Clatus Wentzel.


Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday, October 22, 2007 at Austin Funeral Home, continuing at 11:00 am, at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 421 Mulberry Mt. Vernon, Indiana with Father Ken Steckler officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery with the American Legion Owen Dunn Post #5 conducting military rites.

Friends may call 4 pm until 8 pm, Sunday, October 21, 2007 with a Memorial Service being held at 7 pm. Friends may also call Monday, October 22, 2007 from 9 am until service time, at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 E. 4th Street, Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
