Karen Mae (Lawson) Cashmore, 76, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at her residence. She was born on December 25, 1944, the daughter of Lester and Vonda Lee (Wicker) Lawson. She married Richard E. Cashmore on August 9, 1963 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2009. Karen worked in the paint department at Trelleborg in Carmi for many years. She later worked in laundry and housekeeping at Wabash Christian Village. Karen enjoyed planting and growing roses.
Karen is survived by her children, Tina (Kregg) Tolley of Crossville, IL., Vonda (Melvin) Thomas of Springerton IL., June (Jessie) Hise of McLeansboro, IL., Regina (Kevin) Scott of Mt. Vernon, IL., Mary (Brian) Jones of Ridgway, IL. and Richard Cashmore of Carmi, IL.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Lester Lawson of Arkansas, Loraine Roark of Arizona, and Jack Bean of New Haven, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard; her parents; a grandson, Maxwell Elliot; two brothers, Roy Bean and Jim Bean; and sisters, Jennie May, Kathy Berlozzi, Mary Lisniewski and Ruth Bean.
Services for Karen Mae Cashmore will be private with burial at Melrose Cemetery in Carmi. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
