Kalah D. Wild, age 57 of Mt. Vernon, IN, died Wednesday morning November 25, 2009 at Deaconess Hospice. She was born August 13, 1952 in Evansville, In the daughter of James and Doris Jane (Wilson) Shephard. She married Steven Wild on July 20, 1973 at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
Kalah loved her job as a bus driver for the Mt. Vernon School District. Along with that she was very active in following her granddaughter with all of her sports activities. She was a member of the Owen Dunn Post #5 American Legion Auxiliary and loved her Bingo.
Kalah is survived by her husband Steve; her daughter, Jama Wild of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren, Abbie Normington and Landon Wagner; her father and his wife, James D. and Florence Shephard of Mt. Vernon, Florence became a special friend who helped care for Kalah.; her grandfather, Charles Wilson of Mt. Vernon and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Shephard; her grandmother, Helen Wilson; and her uncle, Butch Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday November 30, 2009 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th Street, Mt. Vernon with Mark Tabor and Rev. Tom Buffington officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery, near New Haven, IL. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Kalah’s name to the charity of the donors choice.
A special thank-you is given to Dr. Gordon Vogel and Susan and Staff at the Deaconess Hospital for the special care they took of Kalah.
