Julia Stern

Julia A. Stern 90 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Saturday morning October 19, 2019 at the Linda E. White Hospice in Evansville, IN. She was born February 15, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Pfister) Scherretz. She married Norman Duane Stern on January 2, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2011.

Julia worked for many years as a Bookkeeper for Wanamuelhler Oil Company. She enjoyed golf but loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by her son, Mikel (Deborah) Stern of New Harmony; grandson, Timothy (Kathleen) Stern; great-grandchildren, Grant Mikel and Austin James Stern; sisters, Wanda Dabney and Juanita Multz. She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, Mikel Brian Stern; brothers, Wallace and Frank Scherretz Jr.; and sister, Martha Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday October 23, 2019 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon with Pastor John Motz officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
