Juanita Hammell, 93, of Evansville formerly of Carmi passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at 6:07 p.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born April 7, 1920 in Enfield, IL the daughter of Louis and Clyde (Wolfe) Russell. Juanita married Chauncey Elmer Russell Hammell on October 23, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi and was active with 55 and Alive. Juanita had worked in a restaurant and the laundry department at White County Medical Center/Skilled Care Unit.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy A. Collins of Evansville, IN and Rebecca and John Willett of Crossville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Pam Hammell of Rogersville, AL and Edward Hammell of Evansville, IN; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Boswell and four brothers, Martin, Donald, George and Kenneth Russell.
Funeral Services for Juanita Hammell, 93, of Evansville, IN formerly of Carmi will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, IL. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
