Josephine Martin

Josephine Martin, 95, of Carmi, passed away at 11:30 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL.  She was born January 17, 1921 in Edwards County, IL, the daughter of Hunter and Emma (Dycus) Walker. Josephine married Royal Tony Martin and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi.

Josephine is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Gay and Lois Koontz both of Carmi; a sister, Wilma Peach, of Antlers, OK; 5 grandchildren, Martin (Patty) Koontz, Mark (Katrina) Koontz, Lisa (Mike) Hetzel, Scott Ready and Derek (Kona) Ready; 6 great-grandchildren, Matt (Andrea) Hetzel, Alex (Jasmine) Hetzel, Keely Koontz, Sheena Ready, Kyle (Sara) Koontz, and Keegan (Kristin) Ready; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Preston Ready and Abby Koontz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royal Tony Martin; parents, Hunter and Emma Walker; 4 brothers, Donald, Richard, Tom, and Eugene Walker; 2 sisters, Mildred Zinn and Evelyn Marriott; and 2 son-in-laws, Clarence Gay and Kenneth Koontz.

Funeral services for Josephine Martin, 95, of Carmi will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Josephine's memory to Campbell Funeral Home to help assist with funeral expenses or the First Baptist Church in Carmi. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
