Joseph Basinger

Joseph H. Basinger, 90, of Enfield, passed away on April 27, 2017 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.  He was born on March 28, 1927 in Enfield, the son of William and Nora (Biggerstaff) Basinger.  He married Mary Kathryn Keepes on January 11, 1951 and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2010.

Mr. Basinger worked for GTE for 40 years before his retirement.  He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran.  He belonged to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus member.  He enjoyed making wine.

He is survived by son, Rick (Donna) Basinger; daughters, Karen (Jim) McKinney and Mary Jo (Jeff) Murphy; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Betty) Basinger and John (Shirley) Basinger; sisters, Betty Rubenacker, Helen Dunkle, Mary Lou (Lee) Brent, Catherine (Gene) Trapp, Clara (Gene) Voyles, and Edie (Jim) Ward.  He was preceded in death by brother, Bob Basinger.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Enfield.  Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the church.  Rosary will be at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the Carmi American Legion and VFW Posts.
