John Welker

John C. "Red" Welker, 85, of Carmi, passed away at 1:05 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at Premiere Healthcare in New Harmony, IN.  He was born in Olney, IL on December 20, 1931, the son of Ben C. and Matilda (Buss) Welker.  John married Ramona Gayle Brandenstein in April of 1959 in Shawneetown, IL and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2016. John graduated from Olney High School in 1950. He was a salesman for General Oilfield Supply and after retirement he worked maintenance at Carmi McDonalds. He was a member of Carmi Lions Club.

John is survived by two daughters, Tamara Anderson of New Harmony, IN and Marilyn and Michael Brauser of Mt. Vernon, IN; a son, Michael and Julie Welker of Paducah, KY; brother-in-law, John Ogle, of Olney; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grand children.  John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ramona; a daughter, Debra Hancock; brother, Roy Welker; sister, Doris Ogle; sister-in-law, Francis Welker and a son-in-law, Fred Anderson.

Funeral services for John C. "Red" Welker, 85, of Carmi will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Emmanuel United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
