John R. Walker, Jr., 62 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wednesday December 7, 2016 at his home. He was born January 1, 1954, the son of John R. and Barbara (Carroll) Walker, Sr.
He worked as a laborer and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
He is survived by his daughters, Melody Walker and Crystal Meriwether; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and one on the way. Brothers, Leonard, Ronnie, Bill and Walt Walker. His companion, Jan Johnson also survives along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joseph and sister, Janie Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday December 12, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
