John Storey

John William Storey, 97, of Enfield passed away at 12:40 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born October 5, 1917 in White County, IL the son of Edward Jasper and Eunice (Hillyard) Storey. John married Louise Harper on October 4, 1939 and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2013. He was a grain and livestock farmer and a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and wood crafting.
John is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Richard Gates of Carmi, Cindy and Ken Wilson of Enfield and Belinda and Galen Cornett of Maui, HI; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny Storey of Carmi, Charles and Lillian Storey of Enfield and Gale and Penny Storey of Tunnel Hill, IL; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 73 years, Louise, a sister, Nellie Shaw and an infant brother.
Funeral Services for John William Storey, 97, of Enfield will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in West Union Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be in John's memory to Wabash Christian Retirement Center or Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
