John Miller

John H. Miller, 66, of Carmi passed away at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born in Hamilton County, IL on September 18, 1949 the son of Hayward and Inez (Downen) Miller. John worked on various oil rigs and most recently for George Mitchell Drilling. He later went on to work construction. John was a United State Marine Veteran serving during Vietnam.

Surviving are a daughter, Candi (Doug) Basham of Henderson, KY; son, John Chris Miller of Omaha, IL; three brothers, Paul Downen of Freeburg, George Miller of Norris City and Geoff Miller of Crossville; five grandchildren, Tyler, Derick, Ashlee, Brooklynn and Levi; and three great-grandchildren, Kohlton, Clayton and Kaelin. John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sue Knowling and a brother, Bill Miller.

Graveside funeral services and burial for John H. Miller, 66, of Carmi will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 in Enfield Cemetery where the Carmi American Legion and VFW will perform military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to assist with funeral expenses to Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
