John DeLong

John M. DeLong, 82 of Carmi, passed away Thursday afternoon June 22, 2017 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. He was born March 2, 1935 in Matoon, IL the son of Harold and Mabel (Burris) DeLong. He married Doris Yeager on December 18, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Carmi.
John drove over the road for 52 years. He was a million mile Driver. He enjoyed stock car racing.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, David (Lela) DeLong and Kelly DeLong; grandchildren, Rachel (Bryan) Ackerman and Lindsey (Daniel) Russell; great-grandchildren, Abigail Dillman, Sean and Alexa Ackerman. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby; brothers, Gene, Jim and Bill DeLong and sister, Ruth Bostick.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday June 25, 2017 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with Chaplain Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Marshall Ferry Cemetery.
