John Cox

John E. Cox, 84,  of Mt. Vernon, passed away on September 29, 2017 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville.  He was born on July 5, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Calvin A. and Macel (Hust) Cox.

Mr. Cox was a farm laborer and had also worked at the tile factory.  He attended the Independent Pentecostal Assembly Church in Mt. Vernon.

He is survived by brother, Herdis L. (Carla) Cox; sisters, Dean Hogan, Betty Horton and Cecil Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Calvin, Jr., Bertis Lee, and an infant; and sister, Mary Chandler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  On-line condolences may be left at www.stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
