Jimmie Reeves

Jimmie R. Reeves, age 64, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at his home. He was born November 27, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Charles L. and Bonnie (Stokes) Reeves. He married Nancy Schaefer on June 10, 1978, and she survives.


He was an Air Force Veteran. Mr. Reeves was a Deputy Sheriff with Posey County. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.


He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Mt. Vernon; his father, Charles L. Reeves of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren, Sierra Riordan and Parker Groves, both of Mt. Vernon; a brother and sister-in-law, Hilton and Phyllis Reeves of Mt. Vernon; a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Doug Donahoo of Louisville, KY; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Julius and Linda Teske of Vero Beach, FL, and Judy Schaefer of Banebery, TN; a son-in-law, Kent Groves of Mt. Vernon; and a nephew, Kurtis Schneider of Evansville.


He is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie; and a daughter, Wendy Groves.


A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 7:00 pm, at Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A private family burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery at Bufkin at a later date.
