Jillian Dee Smith, 43, of Norris City, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 1:25 p.m. at her residence. She was born September 16, 1970 in Carmi, the daughter of Kenny Eugene and Ja'nice Fay (Mecum) Smith. Words cannot even begin to describe Jillian. She was full of love for her friends and family and especially her puppy, Wylie. Jillian was a lover of beautiful things and was a phenomenal artist. Jill could always brighten your spirit using laughter and wit. She was always in the mood for a good conversation and was a wealth of knowledge. She was very passionate about politics and current events, and was not afraid to share her opinion. If you didn't agree with her, you still loved her. To say she will be missed is an understatement.
Jilllian is survived by her mother, Ja'nice McKinney of Carmi; sisters, Mariah (Robert) Brooks and Kristina Smith all of Carmi; brothers, Kelly (Barb) Shepherd of Crossville, TN and Shawn Smith of Knoxville, TN; an aunt, Deanna Hart of Carmi; nieces and nephews, Corey, Kyleigh and Cameron Shepherd, Chad, Shayna and Lexi Smith, Michael and Mitchell Masterson. She was preceded in death by her father; and infant sister, Ebony.
Memorial services for Jillian Dee Smith, 43, of Norris City, will be Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may meet at the cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given in Jillian's name to Pets At Risk, P. O. Box 2, Carmi, IL 62821. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
