Jessica Wooters

Jessica Rene Wooters, 40, went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2015 at 12:45 p.m. She was born in Centralia, IL on June 1, 1975. Rene is the daughter of Delite and Steve Gilpin of Carmi. She was a graduate of Carmi High School. She was attending University of Phoenix, majoring in Psychology and was about to receive her masters degree. Her desire was to help disabled veterans.

Rene has fought a long battle with type one, juvenile diabetes since the age of 16 months. The summer she was diagnosed with acute, aggressive Leukemia. She began receiving treatments from Vanderbilt Cancer Center in Nashville, TN and Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN, where she received special care and prayers from the nursing staff. They were truly a blessing.

Vince Matthews was her fiancAC.e, "The Love of Her Life" and has served as a medic in the United State Army. He and Rene had made their home in Clarksville where he card for her unselfishly through her illness. They were married on October 22, 2015 at Gateway. She knew he truly was her gift from God, as does her mom. God couldn't of given her a better husband.

She is survived by her mom, Delite, and dad, Steve Gilpin; husband, Vince Matthews; four uncles and aunts, Dwight and Paula Wooters, Michael and Brenda Wooters, Pat and Thelma Wooters and Kenny and Mary Johnson; three siblings, Matthew, Adam and Amber Sents; cousin and best friend, DeeAnn Vaupel; many other cousins; special friend, Tina Richardson. Rene was preceded in death by per precious grandmothers, Helen Wooters; an infant son, Matthew and daughter, Kotea; and her papaw, Jess Gilpin.

A memorial service for Jessica Rene Wooters, 40, will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until service time. The family request that in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to Campbell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
