Jesse DeLap, 79, of Norris City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare, with family by his side. He was born on July 16, 1944, in Norris City, the son of Roy Harold and Inice (Healy) DeLap. He married Maxine Melton on August 31, 1968, in Carmi, IL and together they shared over 52 years of marriage before her passing on November 7, 2020. Jesse worked as a welder and boilermaker and was very talented and could build anything he set his hand to. He was a member of the Norris City Christian Church and served on the Norris City Museum Board. He enjoyed antiquing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Rachelle (Darrell) Sneed of Norris City and Jason (Angie) DeLap of Norris City; grandchildren, Jacob (Chelsea) DeLap and Justin Knight; great-grandchildren, Macy and Jesse DeLap; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rebecca (John) Sutton, Sally Wilson, Betty Gregory, and Sandra Smith, Walter (Karen) Melton, James Melton, John Melton, Mark Welch and Rhonda Melton and several nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, Maxine Delap, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Harold Melton, Robert Melton, Bill Wilson and David Gregory and a sister-in-law Patricia Welch.
Funeral Service for Jesse DeLap will be private with burial in the DeLap Section of Mt. Oval Cemetery near Norris City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jesse’s memory to Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare 1001 Jefferson Street Lot A, Eldorado, IL 62930 and will also be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
