Jerry Thurman

Jerry Thurman, 71, of Mt. Vernon, IL and formerly of Flora, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 5:14 p.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born March 10, 1941 in Norris City, IL, the son of Wesley Otto and Mary Arletta (Blake)Thurman. Jerry married Judith Margaret Kerr and she preceded him in death January 12, 1970. He was a filler at Minwax in Flora and also owned Jerry's Downtown Shell Service Station in Flora. Jerry was a member of the Son's of the American Legion Post #14 of Flora.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Amy Thurman of Mt. Vernon, IL; a grandson, Trevin Thurman; and Jerry's former wife, Kay Sears of Flora and her children, Bob Brown of Hermitage, AR and Becky Hildebrand of Kingston, TN.
Ray was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bruce; and a brother, Raymond Thurman.
Graveside funeral services and burial for Jerry Thurman, 71, of Mt. Vernon, IL and formerly of Flora, will be Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:30 a..m. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
