Jean Brown, 83, of Carmi, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at 6:21 a.m. at her home in Carmi. She was born March 16, 1930 in Fairfield, IL, the daughter of William and Marie Harlan. She married Clyde Edmond Brown September 30, 1949 at New Hope Church in Fairfield. Jean was a bookkeeper at Airtex and later worked at Dean's Flowers and Stein's Flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi, Lydia Sunday School Class and 55 And Alive.
Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clyde Brown of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Mike Loomis and a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Julia Brown all of Carmi; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Blackmer of Cumberland Hill, R.I., Ann and Max Green and Reta and Preston Mathews all of Fairfield; a brother and sister-in-law, William "Sid" and Jeannie Harlan of Marion, IL; four grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Campbell, Katie (Matt) Whetstone, Brianna Brown and Aaron Brown; and one great-grandson, Zane Campbell. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Michael Loomis and a sister, Betty Hill.
Funeral services for Jean Brown, 83, of Carmi, will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Luke Racyzkowski officiating. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
