Janice McKay

Janice Kay (Rister) McKay, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.  She was born on February 20, 1947 in Mt. Carmel, IL the daughter of Marvin and Maxine (Day) Rister.  Janice graduated from Carmi Township High School in 1965 and attended beauty school and for a short time was a beautician, then she became a mother.

She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Leigh Mullins of Carmi; a son, James Robert McKay of Carmi; two grandchildren, Jayden Micah Mullins and Kendan Shane Mullins and Kaylee Snyder; great grandchildren, Deacon Newman, Ryah Wiggins, Konner Mullins and Zayla Mullins; a sister, Melinda and Monty Applin and their daughter, Amanda Jane Brown Armstrong; a brother, Earl Lee and Vanessa Rister and their son, Bryson Rister; along with extended family, John W. McKay, Jr. and family, the Mullins family and many other cousins from the Day families. Also surviving are special friends, local and from the internet, who she cherished, Paula and John Krankel, Karen Prerost, Susan and Matthew Musgrave.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Audray Martin McKay, II, beloved nephew, Nathan Lee Rister, and great-grandchild infant Willow Churchwell.

A special thanks to the girls from Wabash who knew her best and took care of her in her final years. Janice will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In keeping with Janice's wishes, she will be cremated and no formal services will be held.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janice to Brownsville School in honor of her great-grandson, Deacon Newman and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
