Janet R. Baumgart, 76, of New Haven, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. She was born in Evansville, IN on February 22, 1945 the daughter of George and Elvera (Titzer) Hillenbrand. Janet married Robert Baumgart on August 10, 1963. She was a farm wife and member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, IN. Janet enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and especially attending her grandchildren's events.
Janet is survived by husband of 58 years, Robert; five children, Jane (Perry) Moon of Tuscumbia, AL, Kathy (Chet) Moon of Tuscumbia, AL, Jeff (Debbie) Baumgart of Cape Girardeau, MO, Bob (Kristy) Baumgart of Acworth, GA and Cindy Baumgart of Norris City; a brother, David (Carol) Hillenbrand of Evansville, IN; 16 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Mike) Hester, Alyssa (Collin) Stubblefield, Chelsea Moon, Ali (Tyler) Clark, Josh Baumgart, Maddie Baumgart, Alaina Baumgart, Terry Baumgart, Jeb Baumgart, Zeke Baumgart, Finlee Hite, Robert Baumgart, Matthew Baumgart, Abby Baumgart, Kaitlyn Baumgart, and Christopher Baumgart; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Hester, Kimberlee Hester, and Lyla Jane Stubblefield. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Larry Baumgart.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, 2021 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Carmi. Burial will be in Big Prairie Cemetery near Carmi. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made in Janet's memory to St. Matthew's Catholic School and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
