James T. Walsh

     James T. "Jim" Walsh, 83, of Carmi passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at his home.  He was born on October 7, 1939 in Evansville, IN the son of James Albert and Julia Louise (Thomas) Walsh.  Jim married Judy K. Francis on July 10, 1966 and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2013.  He was a grain and livestock farmer, raising and showing Polled Hereford Cattle.  Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carmi, where he was an Elder, the White County Farm Bureau, White County Fair Board for over 45 years, the Illinois State Association of County Fairs for 20 years, where he had served as President, following his father's footsteps and becoming the first father/son to both serve in the that position and he formerly served on the Wayne White Electrical Coop Board. Jim would help cook for the Community Cookout and at Browns Feed. He even had the opportunity to barbeque for Barack Obama when he visited White County. He loved to garden and would always share what he produced.  

     Jim is survived by his two daughters, Chanda (Kevin) Kays of Evansville, IN and Carrie (Doug) Redman of Carmi; four grandchildren, Justin (Madison Cox) Kays of Carmi, Libby (Matt) McGill of Crossville, Lily (Luke Oskvarek) of Woodridge, IL, and Katie Kays of Evansville, IN; four great-grandchildren, Jona, Noah and Trenton McGill and Frank Keeling; two siblings, Albert "Rusty" Walsh of Carmi and Joy Holloway of Michgan; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judy; son, Trent Walsh and a sister, Julia Heberer.

     Funeral services for James T. Walsh, 83, of Carmi will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  Burial will follow in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi.  Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at noon at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the In Loving Memory Scholarship and will accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821
