James Tinsley

James A. Tinsley, 72 of Mt. Vernon, IN died at his residence on July 31, 2008. He was born on July 16, 1936 in Bay City, Illinois the son of the late Russell and MaHalia (Wiley) Tinsley. He married Carolyn Phelps on June 18, 1956 at Larwrenceville, IL.

Jim worked as a mate on the river his entire life.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Phelps) Tinsley, two daughters and sons-in-law, Candie and Gene Grabert, Kristina and Michael Phillips all of Mount Vernon; one son, James M. and Donna R.Tinsley of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, James M. Tinsley, Jr., Brent Alan Tinsley, Missy Barritt, Sara Grabert, Abbie Phillips and Dustin Phillips; six great-grandchildren, Macy Allen, Hadley, Hudson and Noah Barritt, Mahala and Nathan Tinsley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Tom Varner and Mary and Virgil Phillips all of Mount Vernon, a half sister, Jean Scott of Bay City, IL; one brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Frances Tinsley of Francisco, IN. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Hank Barritt;, one brother, Ted Tinsley; and two sisters, Ethel Radcliff and Betty Lois Smith.
