James C. Miller, age 91, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at his home. He was born June 2, 1919, in Clark County, Alabama, the son of James and Mimie (Holte) Miller.
James had worked for many years at Swift and Co. before he retired. He then drove a truck for the Evansville Blind Association. Mr. Miller served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the Evansville VFW.
He is survived by his lifetime friend and mother of his children, Mary Lee; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Leah Miller of Vanderburgh Co. IN; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ardyth and James Givens of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Detrice Miller of Mt. Vernon, IN; five grandchildren and their spouses, Diord’re Givens, James “J.W.†Givens, Tamera and Aaron Goodman, Brodrick Miller, Kihary Miller, and Sascha and Lisa Lee; four great-grandchildren, Alyse Givens, Noah James Finn Givens, Aubry Goodman, and Sadie L. Lee; and many other friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Terry Lee, in 2008.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 2:00 pm, at Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of service in the chapel. A private burial will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
