James R. "Jim" Kimbrell, Jr. 73, of Socorro, New Mexico and formerly of Carmi, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, Arizona. He was born January 5, 1940 in Burnt Prairie Township, IL, the son of James Robert and Veda Grace (Funkhouser) Kimbrell, Sr. Jim married Janet Rae Fobar on June 4, 1960 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2009. He was an insurance salesman and worked for Thomas J. Lipton & Co. and IDS American Express. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church and the Carmi Rotary Club.
He is survived by his step-mother, Janie Kimbrell of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Lesa and Art Gonzales of Socorro, NM; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Melinda Kimbrell of Bradenton, FL; a sister, Beverly Ann Bridgeman of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for James R. "Jim" Kimbrell will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Harold Meriwether officiating. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery near Crossville. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the American Heart Association, 208 LaSalle St., Ste 1500, Chicago, IL 60604-1242 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
