James M. "Jim" Garrett, 68, of Norris City, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 7:12 a.m. at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on May 11, 1947 in New Haven, IL, the son of Truman Edgar and Clara Ella (Ellison) Garrett. Jim married Vickie Ann Hall on April 26, 1974. He was an Vietnam War Army veteran and transportation superintendent for Bi-Petro. Jim was a member of Crossville Church of Christ and American Legion Post #109.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Vickie; his father, Truman Garrett of Carmi; a daughter and her life partner, Jaime Garrett and Shelby Carter of Norris City; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Christine Garrett of Norris City; a granddaughter, Aubrey Jo Carter; a sister-in-law, Mary and her husband, Gary O'Neal of Norris City; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Hall of Norris City. Funeral services for James M. "Jim" Garrett, 68, of Norris City, will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Herb Woolard and Rick Absher officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City with military rites by Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #5. Friends may call on Wednesday, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given in Jim's name to Crossville Church of Christ and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
