James A. "Jim" Beam, 72, of Carmi passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 3:05 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born July 21, 1942 in Omaha, IL, the son of John Robert and Flora Isabelle (Minor) Beam. Jim married Lyndall Sue Pyle on November 28, 1963. He was an electrical lineman for Henkels and McCoy and a member of IEBW Local #702. Jim was a mason and a member of May Lodge #718 in Norris City and the Carmi Elks.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sue of Carmi; three daughters, Suzette Beam-Byram of Evansville, IN, Carla Nelson of St. Louis, MO and Felicia Green of Carmi; a son, Jamie Shawn Beam of Carmi; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Emma Lou and Paul Williams of Shelbyville, KY and Dona Hoskins of Norris City; a brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Rosemary Beam of Omaha, IL; and eight grandchildren, David and Elizabeth Beam, Caleb Beam, Erika Byram, Tanner and Tobey Nelson, Hunter and Alyvia Green. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Schneckloth; and a brother, Bobby Joe Beam.

Funeral services for James A. "Jim" Beam, 72, of Carmi, will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Dr. Harrison Peyton officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home where masonic rites will be performed at 8:00 p.m. by the May Lodge #718.

Memorial gifts may be given in Jim's name to the American Kidney Foundation or the Norris City Masonic Lodge Building Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
