James Allen Lane

 James Allen Lane, 81, of Enfield, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, Illinois. He was born on March 7, 1943, in Carmi, Illinois, the son of James Claude "J.C." and Thelma (Newman) Lane. James married Anna Barlow on June 29, 1962, and she survives. He worked with Lane Trucking, the family business, from 1960 until July, 1986. James then went on to work as the Assistant Director of Transportation and mechanic at NCOE School District from 1986 to 2009. He was a member of Enfield General Baptist Church where he served multiple rolls over the years, including Deacon. He was 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. James enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and camping. James loved spending time with his family and grandkids.

     In addition to his wife, Anna Lane of Enfield, IL, James is survived by his children, Cindy (Max) Lowery of Norris City, IL, Kendall (Melody) Lane of Walsh, IL. and Lisa (Carl) South of Enfield, IL; grandchildren, Amy (Leroy) Goldsberry of Henderson, KY, Ashley (Chris) Garlick of Norris City, IL, Daniel (Brenda) Unthank of Harrisburg, IL, Tommy (Megan) Swearenger of Steelville, IL, Samantha (PJ Siegler) Swearenger of Eldorado, IL, Scott (Naomi) South of WI, Daniel (Jessica) South of Enfield, IL, and Cody South of Enfield, IL; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marsha (Clyde) Rush of Springerton, IL. and Sharon (Ronnie) Barger of Enfield, IL; two brothers-in-law, Robert Barger of Springfield, IL and Carroll (Margaret) Barlow of New Athens, IL and numerous neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy Barger; and a great-great grandchild.

     Funeral services for James Lane, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Enfield General Baptist Church, with burial at Little Zion Cemetery in Enfield. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, March 20. 2024. at Enfield General Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in James' memory to Enfield Baptist Church and will be accepted by Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield and may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St,. Carmi, IL. 62821. Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of arrangements.
