James Riley "Jim" Allen, 78, of Norris City, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on April 8, 1945, in White County, Illinois, the son of James Robert and Edith (McKenzie) Allen. Jim married Joyce Talley on February 12, 1965, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2004. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Jim owned and operated Jim Allen Trucking in Norris City until retirement. He also helped farm alongside his brother-in-law, Bobby Joe and Trish Talley and their family. Jim enjoyed hunting, listening to music, and spending time with his friends and family.
Jim is survived by his sons, Jim (Jessica) Allen of Bedford, Indiana and their children, Jocelyn Allen, Jayden Allen and Jenna Allen and Troy (Tonya) Allen of New Market, Alabama and their children, Autumn (Jesse) Israel and Tori Allen and great-grandchild, Sunday Israel; and a brother, Lonnie Allen of Loogootee, Indiana. In addition to his wife, Joyce Allen, he is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lela Mae Bishop; and a daughter-in-law, Melanie Allen.
Funeral services for Jim Allen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13. 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with burial at Powell Cemetery in Norris City with full military honors by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jim's memory to the American Cancer Society, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is in charge of arrangements.
