Inez Murphy

Inez C. Murphy, 82, of Carmi passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:48pm at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born January 3, 1931 in rural Carmi the daughter of Neal and Lena Belle (Wilkins) Cutchin, Jr. Inez married Gene Murphy on November 26, 1953. She had worked as bookkeeper for many years with Downen Furniture, Q.B. Mitchell Drilling Co. and Murphy's Garage and later worked as the cashier at Four Corners Restaurant. In her early years, Inez played the piano at the Christian Church. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Carmi and loved to read, play the piano, watch birds and to garden.

Inez is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gene of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Tony Rister of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Ginny Murphy of Carmi; a brother and sister-in-law, James "Jim" and Carol Cutchin of Carmi; six grandchildren, Ken Bunting, Kelly George, Brittanie Desper, Kolt Murphy, Katie Murphy and Andrew Rister; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, a sister, Sharon Cutchin and a brother, Bill Cutchin.

Funeral Services for Inez C. Murphy, 82, of Carmi will be Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Jim Leithliter officiating. Burial will be in Big Prairie Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. Memory contributions may be made in Inez's memory to the Carmi Public Library and will be accepted at the funeral home.
