Imogene South

Imogene (Wells) South, 92, of Carmi passed away at 2:57 p.m., Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL.  She was born August 9, 1924 in Logan, IL the daughter of Carl and Nellie Wells, Jr.  Imogene married William Earl South, Sr. and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2003.  She was a homemaker and attended Stewart St. Baptist Church.

Imogene is survived by six daughters, Gayle Ward, Gay Peyton and Linda Browning all of Carmi, Ramona Mock of Spring City, TN, Dolly Farny of Enfield and Jeanie of Benton, IL; five sons, Billy South of Tennessee, Kevin South of Belize, Gregory South of Louisville, IL, Stacey South and Shannon South both of Carmi; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Pearl Kuykendall and Victoria Egbert; two sons, Robert and David Canady; two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services and burial for Imogene (Wells) South, 92, of Carmi will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.  Memorial contributions may be made in Imogene's memory to the Baptist Children's Home, the Alzheimer's Association or to Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
