Ida Whitlow

Ida R. Whitlow, 80 of Carmi, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died on Monday morning, May 9, 2011 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born on February 20, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, IN, the daughter of Aubrey and Sarah (Douthitt) Weir. She married Charles Whitlow on March 3, 1960 and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2003.


Mrs. Whitlow had been a kitchen aid at Medco Nursing Home before her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Carmi.


She is survived by two brothers, Aubrey E. Weir of Ft. Meyers, FL and Harry W. Weir of Crossville, IL; one sister, Mary Newman of Louisiana; twelve step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. Weir and Donald Weir.


Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
