Herman Downen

Herman Wayne Downen, 95 of Crowley, TX, formerly of Norris City left this life for a glorious life with Christ Jesus on February 12, 2012. He was born August 7, 1916 to Harley and Mae (Chapman) Downen. Wayne served in the Army during World War II. He lived most of his life in Norris City until moving in 1957 to Joliet, Il. to work at Caterpillar Tractor Co. After retirement, he and his wife Delores Fae moved back to Norris City and lived there until her death in April 1986. He then married Ellen Buchanan of Kentucky. After her death in 2009, he moved to Texas to live with his daughter.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Lee and Linda Downen of Joliet, Il; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Hubert Duren of Crowley, TX; four grandchildren, Wayne L. Downen, Traci Downen, Jennifer Duren and Chad Duren; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie Downen, Steven Downen, Mason Downen, Alec Duren and Cameron Duren; and a step-brother, David Whitsell of Edwardsville, IL.

Funeral Services for Herman Wayne Downen, 95, formerly of Norris City will be Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rick Absher officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery near Norris City. Friends may call at the Campbell Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:30pm till time of service.
