Herbert Bell

Herbert G. Bell, 78, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 3:45 pm at his residence. He was born July 23, 1933 in Hamilton County, Illinois, the son of Sherman Monroe and Mabel Marie (Chastain) Bell. Herbert married Anna May Van Vleck on September 15, 1954 and she survives. He worked as an electrician through I.B.E.W. No. 702. Herbert was a Korean War Naval veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was baptized at Little Chapel Church.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna May Bell; three daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Renee Cross of Evansville, Anna Marie and Charles Vaughan of Norris City, and Terry Denise McKannan of Francisco, IN; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Wayne and Traci Bell and Herbert G. Bell, Jr. all of Mt. Carmel, and Dustin Paul Bell of Evansville, IN; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Clifford M. and Helen Bell of Brownsville, IL, Carrie VanVleck of Marrion, IL and Lydia Ann Rudsill of Indianpolis, IN; 13 grandchildren ;18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Herbert G. Bell, 78, of Carmi will be Monday, April 9, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Shawn Johnson officiating. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi with military rites by the Carmi VFW and American Legion. Friends may call on Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
