Henry Burnett

Henry P. Burnett, 78, of Griffin, IN, passed away on March 18, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on July 1, 1938 in Rising Sun, IL, the son of Guy and Viola ( Burris) Burnett. He married Fannie Travelstead and she preceded him in death on December 15, 2015.
Mr. Burnett retired as a dredge operator from Mulzer Crushed Stone. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He loved squirrel hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by son, Donnie (Beth) Travelstead, of New Harmony, IN; daughters, Ruth Miley of Wadesville, IN and Rachel (David) Blazier of Carmi, IL; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Homer (Shirley) Burnett; sister, Letha Ninness, and sister-in-law, Wava Burnett. He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Burnett, Guy Charles Burnett, and Christopher Burnett; and sisters, Mary Felty, Ruby Large, Pauline Bell, Jenny Holland, and Verna Faye Burnett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IN. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Marshall Ferry Cemetery in (Dogtown) Rising Sun, IL. Military rites will be conducted by the Carmi American Legion and VFW Posts.
