Helen Carner

Helen A. Carner, age 87 of Mt. Vernon, IN died Saturday evening May 29, 2010 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Posey County, the daughter of John Wilson and Lela (Conner) Carner.


Helen was member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ. She was a retired custodian from the Mt. Vernon School District.


She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gale and Mike Roach and Lenora “Tomi” and Tony Copher all of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Amanda Mills of St. Elmo, IL and Patricia Erwin of Michigan; one brother, Guy Carner of Griffin.


She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Catherine Ricketts; brothers, Malcolm Carner and Martin Carner, Junior Carner and a half brother, Bill Carner.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday June 2, 2010 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN, with Rev. Dallas Robinson and Rev. Darnell McIntosh officiating. Burial will be in Bethsaida Cemetery at Stewartsville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday June 1, 2010 at the funeral home.
